  1. Alan did a great job surveying my Grady Gulfstream. His pricing was fair and he was able to do they survey on a moments notice. I would use him in the future!
    Thanks Alan!

  2. I called Alan in regards to the possibility about surveying a boat in his area. I was not familiar with the survey process, and I found him to be both patient and informative. In the course of our discussion, I expressed some concern about having to make several trips down to Maryland to pursue the boat. Ironically, during our conversation, he alerted me to another opportunity much closer to my home in NYC. I ended up making a deal on that boat! I was disappointed that I was unable to have Alan perform the survey on the boat that he found for me. I would have liked to have met him face to face and I feel comfortable recommending him with confidence.

  3. On a friends recommendation, I contacted Alan to perform a pre-purchase mechanical survey on a Carver Yacht I was interested in buying across the country. Alan performed the boat survey in 48 hours and was professional, courteous, extremely thorough and took the time to explain his concerns with the yacht to me. Alan saved me from flying from Los Angeles to Baltimore and provided all the details I needed to make my decision. I highly recommend Alan and his work ethic. Thank you Alan.

  4. I have never used a marine surveyor before. I started looking for one at BoatUS, and I’m glad I found Alan Gaidelis. If not for Alan’s expert advice, I could have purchased a lemon. Alan took the time to analyze potential boat purchases for me and talked me out of signing numerous contracts. If not for Alan, I could have made an expensive mistake. I finally found a 2001 Sea ray 340 Sundancer at Hawk’s Yachts. Alan did the survey and he took the time to explain everything to me. Thanks to Alan’s help, I had the confidence that I was buying the best boat on the market within my budget. I highly recommend Alan Gaidelis to anyone that is looking to purchase a boat.

  5. As this was my first boat purchase, I wasn’t overly familiar with the process of boat surveys. Alan was recommended to me and I reached out to him over a weekend. He immediately responded to my inquiry which was made through his website and we talked later in the day. We quickly set a date and I met him at the boat around 10:30 on the morning of the survey. He had arrived earlier and had already began the inspection. He immediately briefed me on what he had found and was very patient with my follow-up questions. Throughout the rest of the day when the boat was pulled and then eventually taken on a sea trial, I found Alan to be extremely thorough, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. During the sea trial he went into the cramped and noisy engine compartment several times to take temperature readings and inspect the engines underway. When we returned to the dock, he continued to look for and inspect the items he hadn’t seen/found. Within 24 hours of the survey I had the final report in my hands which I’ve used to address concerns with the broker and the seller.
I would definitely recommend Alan and would use him again without hesitation.

  6. Alan is Awesome, This is the second boat he has surveyed for me and he does an outstanding job. The first boat he surveyed for me he found so many problems with the boat that I actually decided not to purchase it. I think he saved me from a future of ongoing problems. This last boat proved to be in great shape. Alan takes into account how old the boat is and advises you of the issues and the maintenance that you need to follow through with. He is extremely thorough and confident in his field. I would highly recommend Alan to anyone who is looking to buy a boat.

  7. Never felt more confident in my choice of surveyor.

Alan was my surveyor on a 99 Silverton 453. This was my first boat purchase and Alan was a great help. He was not only meticulous in going over the boat but spent the time with me to explain all the results and answer any questions I may have. He even went as far as helping me understand other aspects of boating that I would not have expected to get from a surveyor. With Alan’s help, I am confident in my purchase and couldn’t be happier.

  8. I was very pleased with the entire process from the beginning to the end.
Alan is a very personable person with a great work ethic. He really cares about the job he is doing. He really makes it a point to make sure you know he is doing the best job for you. A very knowledgeable and thorough boat surveyor.
I can’t say enough about his services and the entire survey process for this first time purchase.

  9. I’m a first time boat purchaser and used Alan for a survey. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. He spent ample time explaining all aspects of the boat and his findings. As I needed education, Alan also provided plenty of good general boating information. I greatly appreciate his 22 years of experience and professional survey. I’ll certainly use him again.

  10. Alan was extremely helpful in our process of looking for a boat to purchase. He is very experienced and takes the time to review his finds verbally and in a detailed written report. He also helped us deal with a broker that was a little challenging to work with and moved the process along when the broker couldn’t. It was a pleasure working with him.

  11. Alan,
Thank you again for the excellent survey and support through this process.
Your openness, knowledge and feedback is invaluable. You provided so much more than an inventory of issues. I will be in contact when boat #5 is in the works:) and will be sharing your information with friends who start this crazy journey!!

  13. As first time Boat owners, Alan exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond his duties as a surveyor. He was thorough and welcomed any questions we had. He spent time with us reviewing every detail that helped us make our decision with ease. He reviewed all aspects of the boat and he was a pleasure to deal with. We are so glad we found him!!!

  14. I can’t thank you enough for the survey you did on the boat that is now called “Not a Clew”. Your expertise is evident. It turns out that the genset has a defective rotor and is scheduled to be replaced this coming week.
The boat will be moved to Flag Harbor by my friend Tom Surles (has a Camano) and the owner of the marine service here John Little. Thank you again for a great job well done.

  15. I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with Alan on a recent boat that peaked my interest in Maryland, USA. Being out of country, I was a bit concerned on how all of this would come together. Alan name was recommended by a number of boating forums and he was also a SAMS accredited marine surveyor. From the get go, Alan promptly returned my call and was able to accommodate my scheduling needs despite being a very busy time of the year for him. I was unfortunately not present for the survey and sea trial, but the previous boat owner spoke very highly of him, his expertise and thoroughness. His thoroughness was clearly revealed in the survey report delivered. His passion for his work and boating in general was clearly evident in the nearly two hour follow-up call we had post survey. As you might have noticed, I said previous owner as I did purchase the boat fully knowledgeable of some of the minor issues that Alan’s survey revealed. A big thank-you to Alan for his help with my purchase. I would strongly recommend his services and hopeful that some day we might actually meet in person. Thanks!

  16. I had the opportunity to work with Alan durning a recent pre-purchase survey. He made the experience actually enjoyable. From the very beginning, Alan was very responsive. He would answer a text, email or a call almost immediately. Throughout the entire process he explained his findings both written and in very detailed conversations where I never felt rushed. He explained what were important findings and findings that would be expected of that particular aged boat that was inspected. He unfortunately had to go out to the boat on several occasions and made the time on very short notice. I would not hesitate on having Alan doing another inspection and recommend him to anyone who is in the process of buying a used boat which can have unexpected problems that you want to know ahead of time. Thank you again Alan, a great pleasure working with you.

  17. Alan is the BEST !!! Alan did the survey for our recent boat purchase. I posted my great satisfaction with that. As others have posted Alan told us if we had ANY questions call him. WELL!! after moving the new boat home I DID have a couple questions. And guess what. He not only answered my call and questions, he gave me at least 30 minutes of his time going over how to resolve my issues. Alan Thank You !!!!!!!

  18. Alan was recommended to me by our broker. I only have experience with three surveys in my life. One that was performed on my sailboat which was an insurance survey, the second performed on a failed purchase of a powerboat and this one done by Alan. The survey by Alan was the most thorough I have experienced. Alan paid very close attention to detail and has a complete knowledge of USCG regs, general boating and requirements by manufacturers. I was very impressed with the final report supplied by Alan and it was prompt as well. I would definitely choose Alan for my surveyor again.

    Good Job Alan!

  19. Being our first time purchasing a larger boat we had never had a survey done before.
We had a Searay 310 “Dog Dayz” up for surveying. Alan was a Great sport…!
He was very thorough and willing to answer questions for us. He gave a lot of attention to all systems as well as explaining things to us.. He told us we could text or call anytime with questions that we may have more even after the survey and he was willing to help.
I would strongly recommend Alan he is very knowledgeable and friendly….
    Thanks again Alan

  20. I am so glad that we were referred to Alan to perform our Sea Trial and boat inspection. He is honest and thorough and will just tell you how it is. I find that refreshing especially for us who were not seasoned boaters. Ultimately we decided not to buy the boat and it was because of the very thorough sea trial, it exposed issues with the engine performance. Alan is a pleasure to work with. If you want someone honest, thorough, experienced and looking out for the buyer Alan is your man.
