  1. Alan has been a pleasure to work with. He went out of his way to explain even the smallest of details during our boat survey. He was always friendly and very professional. I would recommend Bayside Marine Surveying to anyone needing a detailed marine survey that produces the final report in a very timely manner as promised.

  2. Alan has surveyed several boats I bought, you can always expect a very detailed and informative report. Alan also takes the time to explain his findings and what they mean for the buyer. Don’t chance buying a boat without survey and don’t hire a surveyor without doing your due diligence, call them and ask for a sample survey which Alan is glad to provide, a poorly executed survey could be very costly to you.

  3. Alan is exceptional. I’m new to the sailing world and Alan spent time explaining things to look for. He was very professional and patient with all my questions. I was unsure about one particular boat in the yard and Alan agreed to doing a yard inspection, then based on the results, we would decide if a sea trial would be a waste of time and money. I really appreciated his honesty and insight!

  4. Great experience in dealing with Alan. He is very knowledgeable, thorough and responsive. I had used him for a previous boat about eight years ago and knew he was the one to contact again with this one. A great detailed report and would not have bought a boat without his survey. Money well spent. Would highly recommend him.

  6. Alan was a pleasure to work with during our pre-purchase process. His depth of knowledge and willingness to educate me was invaluable. The end result in the report was very detailed oriented and beyond my expectations. I have been boating for a number of years and rarely do you find a gem like Alan.

  7. I was looking for more than just a pre-purchase evaluation: I was looking for a solid project list to build on the value of the boat once I bought it. Alan’s survey gave me a detailed map to work with in terms that were easy to understand and follow. In addition, his insight and observations about the make and type of the boat offered some keen insight that might possibly prevent problems due to improper use due to ignorance. His solid experience presented both myself and the seller/seller broker with reality checks that contributed greatly to the acceptance of the valuation and final settlement process.

I will be looking to work with Alan again in an advisory capacity as I progress through the remediation and enhancement of the vessel.

  8. If you’re looking for a marine surveyor, look no further than Alan Gaidelis. While initially shopping for a boat, he was kind enough to spend a half hour talking with me about some important things to look out for, even before I was a client of his. When it came time to survey my boat of choice, he was professional and very down to earth…a true pleasure to work with during the survey and even following up with me afterwards during the buying process to see how things were going. While it is tough to find great examples of customer service nowadays, Alan is the standard for what that should look like. As others here have posted, it was money well spent, and I would not hesitate to use Alan again and would recommend him to anyone.

  9. ***** Alan gets a 5-STAR rating from me. I never met him and never hired him…BUT what he did for me means a lot. His work ethic is top notch! I called and we spoke for almost 30 min. We were discussing an 8 year old Yamaha AR192. Rather than taking my money he talked me through some red flags on that particular boat and the benefits of buying a new one. He also gave some insight on another inspecting service. Very professional guy and I feel comfortable recommending him. I am keeping his contact info for the future. We decided to purchase a new Yamaha 195S. Thank you Alan we feel great about our decision!

  10. Alan is superb – he delivers a detailed survey on time, with a detailed report and ample discussion time. His findings are clearly explained and dumbed-down for anyone to understand. He is a very pleasant guy who educated me a lot and redirected where my major concerns should be. I haven’t decided what I’m doing yet with my potential purchase, but I know that he either saved me from a lemon that was going to unknowingly cost a small fortune to repair or he saved me tens of thousands in the purchase price to offset repairs. I regret paying for a separate engine inspection as his survey provided almost exactly the same information. If this deal falls apart, he’ll get my business again with my next dream boat!

  11. Alan is salt of the earth people. He was thorough, professional and focused on doing the best job for us. He took charge from the brokers immediately and started his work, with single minded focus. He went through our prospective boat from bow to stern, not only was prepared he is clearly a seasoned expert at this kind of specialized work. His report gave us more information than the brokers could, from mechanics to cosmetic and everything in between. His report was specific and informative and resulted in the owner performing the work recommended and suggested by Alan. I learned more from sitting with Alan discussing his findings and general information about this boat and about boating in general. Use this company. Alan will not steer you wrong.

  12. What can I say about Alan and Bayside Marine Surveying? Well let’s start by saying he saved us about 100 grand. He’s extremely concise detailed truthful knowledgeable and reliable. I would definitely use him again. He spent so much extra time on the phone with me because I’m A brand new boat buyer that I thought he would stop answering the phone. But he answered every call and spent at least 20 minutes to an hour each time I called him. This guy is a saint! And his survey was beneficial in saving us thousands of dollars on a boat that was not as advertised. Thank you again Alan. All your other reviews are so truthful and I’m so glad that we were able to get you to look at our boat.

  13. Outstanding surveying report. It was most informative and comprehensive in all respects of the vessel. Mr. Alan Gaidelis was very professional and great to work with. He took the time to answer my questions and he explained them in detail. Even after the survey, he returned my call promptly. I would highly recommend his services and wouldn’t hesitate to use him again. Money well spent!!!.
