  1. I hired Alan to performed a pre-purchase survey on a 3500 Maxum based on glowing recommendation from a friend who recently purchased a 310 Sundancer and hire Alan for his survey. Let me tell you, Alan is true professional surveyor. Alan’s attention to details and his thorough inspection process are evident in his survey report. Alan, thank you for the quick turnaround and excellent job. I will definitely contact you in the future for boat surveys.

  2. Alan did a stellar job on our survey for recently purchased 2000 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer. Its a great boat but had some issues with the decking and swim platform. Some other minor things that needs repairs, all pointed out by Alan and in his detailed report, but nothing prevented us from getting underway. We were able to negotiate with the seller a lower purchase price based on the findings. Outside of the issues, a great boat and I knew fully what we were getting into. Love the boat and hopefully will get a solid 12-15 years out of her. Great job, Alan.

  3. Just had my 2017 Regal 32 Express seen by Alan. He is what you want and need when buying a boat. Detail oriented and methodical. He went through the boat better than I ever could. When he has finished, you know exactly what you have and what you are buying. He is very straight forward and no sugar coating, and that is EXACTLY what you want!
    All the best.

  4. I hired Alan to perform an inspection on a Hunter 310 I was in the process of buying. He was extremely knowledgeable & thorough. He happily answered all my questions & phone calls & emails & was such a pleasure to work with. He really cares about doing the best job for his clients & guided me through the whole process. I would gladly recommend him to anyone who needs to have a vessel inspected!

  5. Alan performed a pre-purchase survey on my 260 Sundancer. He was extremely thorough to the point that I didn’t know a boat that size could have so much to inspect. His calls before he began, after the out-of-water review, and after the sea trial were very detailed, and his knowledge of boats is overtly apparent.

I wouldn’t buy another without having Alan looking at it first. Thank you.

  6. Alan recently helped us with the purchase of a Grady-White Freedom 275. This was our first boat purchase and involved a boat located in Maryland (we are from MA) at a time when because of Covid-19 we were unable to travel to see the boat in person or attend the survey or sea trial. Needless to say we were nervous about what we were getting into with the purchase.

Alan did a fabulous job. He is clearly knowledgeable about boats and the issues of most importance to boat purchasers. He was responsive and gracious with his time in explaining things. He performed an on-land survey and then a sea trial and produced a detailed report of the boat’s condition and recommendations as to what we should do in response to
    his findings.

Alan is personable, has a good sense of humor and did everything he could to insure that the boat we were buying justified the price we planned to pay.

    We recommend Alan without reservation.

  7. Alan not only surveyed the boat I was purchasing but the boat I was selling as well. He is very thorough and knows his stuff. He answered any questions I had. He was very accommodating on scheduling and was flexible with the fact the yard that had our “new” boat stuck on land and took forever to get it launched. If or should I say, when we purchase our next boat, Alan will be our call for the survey. He catches everything and I mean everything (22 page report!)

  8. Alan recently surveyed my Sundancer 320. As a first-time boat owner I had a ton of questions and he walked me through the entire process. Following the completion of the survey, he was extremely generous with his time to discuss the findings in more detail, offering suggestions, sharing educational resources, and even referrals to his vast network of mechanics and marinas. If you are looking for a professional, experienced, marine surveyor, look no further than Bayside Marine.

  9. Survey on 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer
Alan was very easy to work with. He was very prompt, helpful, and knowledgeable. He surveyed our boat during the COVID quarantine so we could not be there for the survey. He walked me through the entire survey on the phone and was straight to the point about his findings. He was always very prompt to respond to any questions I had. If in the future a friend or family member was in need of a survey Alan would be the one I would recommend.

  11. Alan did a great job surveying the boat in very strange times (amid of a pandemic). He was very professional and thorough. His report was detailed and clearly explained all issues identified during the survey. I will give him a call next time I buy a boat.

  12. If you are on this page looking for a surveyor, you’ve found the right one. I cannot recommend Alan highly enough. His professionalism, competence, and punctuality are above board. But what really stands out is the personal touch. When you hire Alan, you get personalized service and support in your surveying experience. We would have been lost in the boat buying experience if not for Alan’s expertise and care. So stop looking, you’ve found the best right here. Thanks, Alan!

  13. I selected Bayside Marine Surveying from listings on the internet, and it proved to be a great selection. Alan is a good communicator and provided feedback at each phase of the survey. He kept me up to date and never guessing where we were in the process. Alan negotiated a haul out of the boat in question and saved me $160 from the start. His frank, no nonsense demeanor was refreshing. His survey findings provided exactly what I needed, allowing me to make a more educated decision. Purchasing a used boat is a nerve racking decision and having Alan on my side was a big plus. I highly recommend Bayside Marine Surveying. Thank you Alan, a job well done…

  14. We recently hired Alan to perform a survey on a 3807 Carver. Alan is very thorough with his inspections and I don’t believe missed a single item on the boat. The survey report is well laid out with what has to be corrected immediately, what can be performed at a later date and stressed areas which were a safety concern. Alan takes the time to go over his findings with you and makes sure you have the opportunity to ask questions.

It is likely we will purchase another boat in the future and Alan will be the first surveyor we call.

    Thank you Alan.

  15. We recently hired Alan to survey a potential boat purchase. He spent hours going over every detail of the exterior, interior, engine components and electronics. During the sea trial, he was actively monitoring underway data. Throughout the whole process he was communicative with me and my husband as we inquired about his tasks.

Alan made it clear to us that he is available for follow up anytime. I know that if we have questions about something in the report or about the function of the boat, he would happily listen and guide us.

I highly recommend Bayside Marine Surveying if you are considering a boat purchase. Whether you boat is brand new or older as ours is, Alan will assess your needs and provide a customized, detailed report in a timely manner that will help you make your decision.

Thank you Alan for helping us realize our dreams.

  16. It’s difficult to add to the multitude of accolades already heaped on Alan…ALL well deserved in my opinion! Beyond being super qualified and experienced, I liked Alan personally. That just added to his credibility and I felt i could share with him my feelings as well as my technical questions. That led to my asking questions about my desires regarding my criteria for a boat. He willingly offered his advice and suggestions, all of which I am using in pursuing another purchase (the boat he surveyed for me had issues that caused me to reject it). I’m confident that I will end up with a boat that truly satisfies me…and I will attribute that to Alan’s insights, his careful explanations of boat systems and characteristics, and his willingness to answer my questions after he delivered his report.
    THANK YOU, ALAN!

  17. Thank you for surveying my 2004 Sea Ray. I learned so much about the boat from Alan. He went over every inch of the boat with me and let me know about a few items he had concerns with. If you ever need a survey I would definitely recommend Bayside Marine Surveying.
Thanks again I appreciate all the information you gave me.

  18. We are new to the big boat world and have a lot to learn.
When a survey was required we were advised to contact Alan at Bayside Marine surveying.
He was not only good at his job, he was also very informative and helped us understand so much more about our boat and ownership of bigger boats.
Alan is a professional that takes his work seriously and clearly demonstrated a lifetime of knowledge.
We still call on him for advice and it’s always good.
Thanks Alan and know we would highly recommend you to anyone that needs your services.

  19. We had the pleasure to work with Alan on a boat that turns out he was already familiar with, so that was to our advantage. This was our first formal Survey and the experience with Alan couldn’t have been better. His professionalism, thoroughness, and courtesy reassured us that we made the right decision choosing him for our Survey. We plan to use Alan for future services should the need arise.

  20. We all need someone we can trust when dealing with our boats – from the pre-purchase survey to those nagging little engine issues that annoy us. Alan has not only performed several of my boat surveys, but recently he spent an afternoon with me to diagnose an engine alarm problem that was causing way too much anxiety and annoyance. The weather was rather poor and he could have cancelled but instead we took my Cruisers 3672 out and he found the root cause. He is a true professional and loyal to his clients whenever they need him. Thanks Alan, you’re the best out of there.
