  1. Alan performed a marine survey for me a couple months ago. While I was very excited about the purchase and thought the price on the boat was a great deal I felt I needed an expert opinion. Unfortunately Alan found several major flaws in the boat and my purchase did not go through. While I was bummed about that I was very thankful that Alan was thorough enough t uncover these flaws. Had I not had Alan do a survey I would have been on the hook for about $15000 in unforeseen repairs and would not have made a very good purchase. Thank you Alan!

  4. Found a 280 Sundancer and put a deposit on it. Buying the boat from out of state so decided to have Alan do a survey.
    His schedule was busy but made time for us and kept his promise. Spent a good amount of time on the survey and called me that night with his findings. Had a detailed emailed report the next night. He was professional and neutral. Reported the facts and let me make an educated decision.
    Money well spent – saved me $30+k on a neglected boat.
    Would use his service again if needed.

  5. This is the first time I had a marine survey done. Alan was very thorough with his inspection and had the 19 page report to me by the next morning. Alan is very efficient; he traveled 1.5 hour to inspect our boat in very heavy rain.

  9. We have had a smaller boat for years. This year we decided to move up in size to a SeaRay 310. I knew nothing about this process, so I asked plenty of people. Alan’s name came up by most of them. I called him, and from the very first call I could not have asked for anyone to be more helpful.
    We hired him to do a prepurchase survey, and his thoroughness and attention to detail was exceptional. He taught me about the operations of the boat and identified things that I would have never found. He spent the entire day with me answering every question I could think of. I received the full detailed survey report the next day. I called him several times after receiving the report and he promptly answered or got back to me.
    Alan told me that he was not one to just do a survey and disappear. I can tell you first hand that he is absolutely correct. He has helped me out several times since and I could not be more pleased. I would highly recommend Alan to any one that asks

  10. I had a smaller boat earlier in my life but decided at my age it was time to look at something bigger and more comfortable for my family. So this was year to start looking. However, the amount of money I was going to spend needed to be justified. That being the case, I decided to hire an independent surveyor to make sure the boat I was looking at was worth it. Out of mere luck I found and hired Alan at Bayside Marine Surveying. I can tell you that he was very thorough with his on-land inspection and his sea-trail inspection. Being able to find the smallest issue was something I would have never found. His 21 page report made me feel that I found the right guy. Whether I move forward on the existing boat that I put a bid on, or move forward on the next vessel, I will make sure I hire Alan again for my next adventure in boating. Thanks Alan!

Alan was able to provide a price over the phone based on the boat I was considering purchasing. He fit me in the same week and provided a very detailed survey of the 35 fountain I was looking at. Alan was among them, so I called him to discuss the process and scope of work. Instantly I could tell that Alan has a strong knowledge of boats and boat systems and particularly the boat we were purchasing. Alan’s survey process and attention to detail is a boat owners dream come true. All information fully documented, easy to read and to understand.   17. I was looking for a basic boat survey on a 2008 Cobalt I was looking to buy. I had done a sea trial and checked out the boat and everything seemed excellent but I wanted an experts opinion as well. Alan was able to fit me into his busy schedule within 2 days. His relationships with the local marinas and mechanics was also helpful as he could ask them more detailed questions about the service history of the boat. Overall, highly recommended and easy to work with.
